iri docs
iri is the memory layer for humans and AI agents. Drop in your notes, decisions, and chats. Search them in plain language. Let your Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT read and write the same workspace through MCP.
iri sits beside the tools you already use (Notion, Apple Notes, Obsidian) rather than replacing them. Sync from one or all of them, then add the agent layer iri provides on top.
Who iri is for
- Solo power users running Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT on real work, who want their agent to remember across sessions and across machines.
- Small teams that want their Slack decisions, standup threads, and call notes captured into a shared, agent-readable knowledge base without retyping.
- Founders / PMs / engineers who need to query "what did we decide about X" months later and don't want to scroll through chat history.
If you're shopping for a Notion replacement, iri isn't that yet, that's not where we win. We're the layer above your existing notes that humans and agents both pull from.

How iri works
Three layers, hidden behind one search box. Full detail in Memory layers.
- Episodic. Notes, documents, chunks. Hybrid search (keyword + vector) pulls relevant material.
- Semantic. iri distills key facts into typed atoms with provenance, confidence, and supersession. (Pro plan; in pilot.)
- Working memory. When you or an agent asks a question, iri assembles the relevant atoms and chunks into a single briefing, with citations.
AI agents connect to iri through the standard Model Context Protocol (MCP). No custom integration. The same workspace your team sees is the workspace your agent sees.
Core concepts
| Concept | What it is |
|---|---|
| Workspace | The tenant. All data is RLS-isolated within a workspace. |
| Sphere | A team or project space inside a workspace. Slack channels can route into specific spheres. |
| Atom | A typed fact iri extracted from your notes. Pin, supersede, or contradict it as your team evolves. |
| Briefing | A structured answer iri assembles for a question, with sources. |
| MCP | The protocol that lets Claude / Cursor / ChatGPT read and write your workspace. |
